Noel Corbut's daughter, Claire Cartier, speaks. The vicinity of Rennes-le-Chateau are full of wholes from treasure diggers.

In the church, the "Knight's Slab" has its statue face down, in front of the altar. Under it bones were found as well as old coins. It looks like a ritual killing. That could be a start.

On the frontispice of the church is written "Terribilis est Locus Iste" (This place is terrible). The devil that held a blessed water fountain disappeared recently, as well as 2 columns.

People think it all started in 1250; It is a time of revolt, and the queen Blanche de Castille went there to hide the Treasure of France. Rennes-le-Chateau was known as the second safest place after Montsegur. The way to the treasure was paved with alchemy symbols, in a sacred grotto.

King Saint Louis tried to find it for his crusades, but failed. Philippe le Hardi tried to, Philipe le Bel as well.
The treasure was lost!

1963: first important diggings. Merovingians'secret? Sigisbert the IVth's,who is burried in the cemeraty?
This treasure could explain the sacred genealogy of the kings of France, who would be direct descendants from the union between the Christ and Maria Magdalena.

Soon after Saunieres finds the "Countess' Slab" at the cemetary which scrupltures link him to the treasure. He destroyed it later.

In a nutshell, it is a story of money. Everything is there that contributes to its mystery: the caracters, the treasure, the History of France. Secret of the Cathares, Alaric, Templars, Salomon, Merovingians?
