While there could be numerous 'security' reasons for a coverup I personally like the following:
At least one of the aliens lived and it was discovered they were here to check on the genetic experiment on Monkeys...
It would also explain no remains for the 'missing link'
what kind of chaos would it have caused given the time frame of the Roswell incident...
and on the metal... hmmm ever looked at one of the new aluminized plastic bags your chips comes in these days... if a person that knew 'tin foil' saw that would they not be amazed at the fact the plastic formed back nearly flat?
