There's been an incident of late where a Judge, using some of his pull, brought in a two ton statue of the ten commandments into an Alabama courthouse. The government (the Supreme Court), in their own ruling to keep Church separate from State, has ordered that the statue be removed from government property.
I personally believe that, aside from whether anyone considers this right or wrong, the separation of church and state is a written law and therefore proper action is being taken to correct this matter.
Yet! In support of this Judge, there are people taking the time to publicly post copies of the ten commandments upon their lawns.
I'm not objecting to this act in itself. Its just that a thought has occured to me.
While christians rally around this perceived injustice I'm reminded of the fact that there still is a problem when it comes to religion. That there is an overall intolerance for those who express themselves as openly and in as benign manner of their own beliefs. That to publicly show themselves as being different to the world in their own beliefs often results in the unfortunate display of adverse retribution. In otherwords it just appears to me that there is a new type of religious persecution going on but so subtly now that no one seems to notice it.
