I am looking for a book of short stories I read about five years ago. The specific story I'm looking for is titled something like "Waking Thunder" and is very similar to the matrix.

It is about a world that is controlled by an AI named thunder that has all the human in cryogenic sleep/dreamworld. A man wakes up by accident and finds himself freed. He makes his way to the old underground human ruins, still full of advertising, finds out the truth and realizes that he knows how to defeat the machine thunder because he helped build it.

I think the book is hard backed, and it might have had some funky illustrations in it. It was (I think) a children’s book and it was not a recent book since it was purchased by the school system. Another story from the book that I remember is about a crippled child who accidentally summons an angel with a fire sword who kills everybody.
Any information you might have about this book would be very helpful to me.
