As a fan of the original BATTLESTAR GALACTICA I was especially looking forward to the new mini-series on Sci-Fi. Now that I have seen it I am divided. There was a great overiding sense of a foreboding hoplessness which was done very well throughout the movie. I believe this aspect was glossed over in the original series. The original wasn't "serious" enough about the end of the human race. I didn't even mind the gender change of the original characters. The story was good and was well acted. The special effects were top-notch. My one criticism of the film (and it's a rather large one) is that the ending has got to be the most disappointing I have ever seen in a film. What kind of a finale was that? The audience wasn't just left hanging. We had the rope pulled from us and were allowed to fall - all the way down to the bottom of the pit of disappointment. We are still there in need of rescuing.
